This high rise residence was renovated once before when the owners merged two units to create a spacious flat with open concept living. Years later they are ready to update the kitchen and bathrooms, a seemingly straightforward process made slightly more complicated due to building requirements and shared walls. We configured the kitchen, thus raising the floor to allow space for plumbing without affecting the downstairs neighbors ceiling. One result is a spacious kitchen island that is counter height on the cooking side, and bar height on the dining side. The pantry is sectioned off with a glass door to provide a lighter look. A breakfast/dining nook offshoots from the kitchen, capturing peaceful morning light. Interior Design was executed by the client's daughter—a fun project perk.
