These Central Austin clients, originally from Denmark and Egypt, wanted to push the boundary on this accessory dwelling unit (ADU.)  The lot size and existing home’s square footage limited allowances to 299 square feet for the conditioned space of the accessory unit. The design includes a single car garage with sliding panels to open to the covered carport which also serves as ground floor entertainment space. Climb the stairs to find a covered deck with structure engineered for a future hot tub, sliding glass panel doors to maximize square footage, a kitchenette, a sitting area, work space, storage and a European-style wet room.
